“If life gives you lemons, make lemonade” — Dale Carnegie.
Hi, Hello, Privet, Shallom.
I’m Vera, Vera Notovich, LifeStyle photographer.
But that wasn’t always the case!
I live in London, grew up in Israel, and was born in Belarus.
I graduated from the London Metropolitan University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting Systems and have worked in the accounting field for the last 18 years. Due to the pandemic, the company was restructured and like many other people around the world, I was left without work.
That was the lightbulb moment in my life when I thought about how to make lemonade, when life presented me with lemons.
I’ve always had a passion for photography, but I didn’t know anything about it. In my life there was no time for a hobby, let alone to realise my passion.
In January 2021, I signed up for an online course in creative photography and successfully completed it within four months, followed by several more courses on specific subjects that were of interest to me, for example: physics of light, psychology of posing, portraits, love stories and I have added Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop software to my arsenal of knowledge.
As a test, I applied for the Russian Photo Awards on the last day of summer submissions with my self-portrait titled “A Day Off”, and I received the 100 Best Photos of Russia Award, 2021. To say that I was shocked was an understatement. It was on this day that I realized that I can squeeze a lemon and make sweet juice. There is no turning back and this is only the beginning. The next chapter of life begins!!
Love for photography has always lived in me, but there was no time, as I said above. The pandemic gave me a unique opportunity to work from home, walk longer in the mornings and during this time develop a passion for capturing moments, places, feelings and emotions of people. During my studies, I had to hand over a lot of homework, and this gave me not only the skill in photography, but also to communicate with people and allow them to feel comfortable in front of the camera.
In addition, I love morning walks, traveling the world, listening to music, secretly dancing, a full English breakfast or buckwheat, fried onions and eggs or pita with hummus, falafel & pickles and most importantly, my favorite dessert is eclairs!
